World Class Fishing

Allow Grand County Fishing Company to be your fly fishing guide this summer to help you land that trophy trout you have always dreamed of catching. Grand County is home to some of the best fishing in the state and with the help of over 65 years experience, your precious fishing time will be put to good use.

Grand County Fishing Company has exclusive rights to over 4 miles of the Fraser River where you can find the solitude that you've dreamed about. But the public water in and around Grand County is spectacular, so guides are also available on the Colorado River offering fishing by wading or boat.  Either way you won't find pasty, pellet fed, finless trout that fight like a wet towel here. This is how fly fishing is meant to be.

The best time to go fishing is when you can, but if you have your choice then the question becomes a little more complicated. Whether you are planning your trip for summer or even winter months, we have water that stays open most of the year, so give us a call and we'll be here to take you to the best fishing spot whatever the season.

Grand County Fishing Company is located in Fraser directly across the highway from the two large ponds (look for the drift boats and red rafts). You can also reach us at 970.726.5231.

Alpine Heaven

Grand County fishing

Winter Park Resort is located in beautiful Grand County, Colorado. Grand County becomes a summertime alpine heaven with lush green fields and rich colored forests. It's no surprise when you consider that we have more water than any other region in Colorado.

Fraser River Fishing

Many people drive through the Fraser River Valley on their way to go skiing, visit Rocky Mountain National Park, or fish the Colorado River. Some are overlooking a great fly fishing spot in this beautiful Colorado valley. The Fraser River, the first main tributary of the Colorado River, offers small to medium-sized stream fishing in a variety of settings.

The Fraser holds some big fish - wild rainbows, browns, and cutthroats. The Fraser River starts near Berthoud Pass. As it runs north for its first 8 miles, it is on National Forest land and is publicly accessible. The river is narrow and shallow here, but worthy of fishing.

From Winter Park to Fraser, the river can be accessed by the Fraser River Trail (hiking or mountain bikes), from USFS campgrounds, or road turnouts. The only exception is as the river flows through private land in the town of Winter Park. You can go fly fishing in the forested lands, or where the river starts into the valley, even right behind the Safeway in Fraser!

The Fraser River Trail is paved and well marked. As you fish, your audience may include bikers, roller-bladers, hikers, or dogs. It would be fun to bike the trail, with fishing gear in tow, and sample more spots in a day than one could do by just hiking.

Access to the Fraser River is limited downstream from the town of Fraser. Some of the best fishing is in the canyon downstream from Tabernash.

More than a Fish Story

Lake Granby, a short 26 mile drive from downtown Winter Park offers over 150 miles of scenic shoreline. Grand Lake is the largest natural lake in the state, and Shadow Mountain Reservoir connects the two. World class fishing too! Catch mackinaw and kokanee salmon as well as rainbow, German brown and cutthroat trout.
