Invest in Kids Jane-A-Thon

We are delighted to announce the 10th Annual Invest in Kids Jane-A-Thon on March 14th, 2009!  The Jane-A-Thon is a pledge-based fundraiser that provides individuals and families an opportunity to raise money to support Colorado's children, all while enjoying a day on the slopes at Mary Jane Mountain/Winter Park Resort.  Skiing and changing children's lives – what a wonderful combination!
 
What is Invest in Kids?

Invest in Kids is a Colorado non-profit organization that works to give Colorado's kids the best start possible through effective, research-based programs.  Before putting any program into place, we make sure that it works—which means that your money is proven to change a child's future. We are committed to ensuring that all Colorado children have the chance to reach their full potential.  To grow up healthy, happy, and able to succeed, as every child should.  Through our programs, we reduce and help overcome many of the obstacles to a child's success.  At Invest in Kids we take what could have been a tragedy and we turn it into a success.  We give kids – and therefore all of Colorado – a chance to grow.  A chance to thrive.

Why the Jane-A-Thon, and why Invest in Kids?

Many Colorado children are blessed with the building blocks they need to grow up strong, healthy, confident and educated.  But not all.  From 2000-2006, Colorado had the highest increase of children living in poverty of ANY state in U.S.  In every community, there are children who never get the chance to reach their amazing potential.  Of the 180,000 children who live in poverty in Colorado, 82,000 live in extreme poverty (50% of the federal government poverty line).  That's 15.7% of all Colorado children living below the poverty line.  Without help, many of these children will receive inadequate prenatal care, lack preparation for school, or experience abuse and neglect – all threatening the health and well-being of children, their families and ultimately, our communities.

The Jane-A-Thon provides important support for Invest in Kids, which works to improve the health and well-being of children, particularly those from a low-income background, with programs that are proven to work.  The money you raise for the Jane-A-Thon helps us find, implement, and sustain these life changing programs, which means that your skiing changes lives!

For the past nine years, Invest in Kids has hosted the Jane-A-Thon, a pledge-based fundraiser that provides individuals an opportunity to come together and raise money to support Colorado's children while enjoying a day on the ski slopes of Mary Jane Mountain/Winter Park Resort. Last year participants raised nearly $40,000 and our goal this year is to have a minimum of 125 skiers raise in excess of $50,000. With your assistance, we have no doubt that we will meet our goal!

Registration: 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. (lifts open at 8:30 a.m.)
Post-event party and awards presentation: 2:00 p.m.
Where: Winter Park Resort, Colorado Mary Jane Base
Cost: Minimum $100 pledge donation, which is really only 10 of your friends pledging $10 each! Many of our participants go above and beyond the minimum, raising thousands of dollars to benefit Invest in Kids' programs.  You can either ask your friends and family to pledge a certain amount per run completed (we have fun armbands and count your runs!), or they can pledge a flat amount.
