WINTER PARK, Colo., Winter, 2007 / 2008 – Winter Park Resort is wired and ready for live picture feeds and 'talk-backs'. Over the past year, Denver television stations have enjoyed a great addition to their news productions at minimal costs, thanks to the resort.
Winter Park has two fiber lines to Denver Teleport, where we can send video or a live feed to anywhere in the world via satellite. There are two live cameras at the resort that can be switched out from Fiber 8. The first camera is a remote controlled camera located at the base on top of the West Portal building. It offers views of The Village at Winter Park, village events, and lower trails and chairlifts. The second camera is a computer-controlled camera at the summit of Mary Jane Mountain. This camera has 360-degree vision capabilities, with a powerful lens capable of focusing up to 5 miles away. This camera is a favorite with local meteorologists who frequently use a time lapse weather picture for their evening weathercasts.
Fiber 8 can also be used for live 'wire and fire' talkbacks. Winter Park's Communications Department provides the camera, a Sony PD 150, the cable and the talking head. The TV station provides, well, nothing besides an anchor and their production expertise. Last year, Denver television stations used this service with great success.
Winter Park Resort is known for its plentiful powder days, fun events, and attractions throughout the season. The Communications Department produce Video News Releases in house using the Final Cut Pro edit system. Our second fiber, Fiber 9, is where our latest releases can be found.
The latest VNR will loop there until another one is produced. This system is a great way to fill your news program with unique footage from a World Class resort. For more information or to book your live feed, call Darcy Morse at (970) 726-1565 or Jennifer deBerge at (970) 726-1573.
