New! Steeps and Deeps Camp Takes Inbounds Backcountry to a Whole New Level
Winter Park Resort, Winter Park, Colo., Winter 2009/10 – Winter Park Resort's Ski & Ride School has taught guests how to ski and ride longer than any other Colorado resort. Celebrating seventy seasons of continual lessons, the Winter Park Ski & Ride School is home to some of the best professional instructors in the nation who are dedicated to teaching beginners and advancing experts in their skiing and riding abilities. New this season, the Winter Park Ski & Ride School is reaching out to thrill seekers with the introduction of their new camp, Steeps and Deeps.
Daily Lessons
Easy Start – Recognized by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) as one of the best resort programs to introduce a new sport, this adult (13 years and older) beginner class offers guests a two and a half hour lesson in skiing or riding. Developed by instructors at Winter Park Resort, lessons will teach balance, turning, stopping, moving sideways and controlling speed. Cost is $69 for a half-day lesson and lift ticket, or $89 for a half-day lesson, lift ticket, and rental equipment.
Private Lessons – The Ski & Ride School is known for offering the best lesson values in the nation. Whether you are looking for the perfect turn, secret powder stash or just want a chaperone for the kids, our private lesson instructors are the best choice. Burton Learn to Ride and Salomon Learn to Ski Classes – These all-day beginner lessons are the best way to really learn the sport of skiing or riding. Teaching skills needed to turn, stop, go forward, slide sideways and control speed. Each class uses specialty equipment designed by Burton (for riders) and Salomon (for skiers). Lessons start at 9:30 a.m., are four-and-a-half-hours long, and include a lift ticket and rentals for $135 per person.
Camps and Clinics
Women's Mid-Season Ski Clinics – These sessions are for female skiers looking to improve their skills in a one-day setting with Winter Park Resort's top female coaches. Starting with a skills analysis, guests receive individual coaching on style and technique. Skiers must be comfortable on blue terrain. Each day includes lunch at Mary Jane. Women's Mid-Week Clinics are held Jan. 13, Feb. 10, and March 17 for $90 per session. (Lift ticket not included.)
Women's Three Week Progressive Clinics – Specially designed for women who want to develop their skiing in a fun and supportive environment, the Winter Park Ski & Ride School offers three consecutive Monday sessions which include six hours of coaching and lunch at Mary Jane. Skiers must be comfortable on blue trails. Women's Three Week Progressive Clinics are held Jan. 4, Jan. 11 and Jan. 18 for $270 per person. (Lift ticket not included.)
Women's Ski Weekend - This fun-filled weekend offers the opportunity to meet women with similar skiing abilities and to improve personal skills within a small group environment. The Women's Ski Weekend package includes two days of coaching, lunch at Mary Jane and an après party for $199. The Women's Ski Weekend is set for Feb. 13 - 14. Skiers must be comfortable on blue terrain. (Lift ticket not included.)
Women's Burton Camp – Back for its fourth year, Winter Park Resort's Burton Ride Camp is a fun weekend gathering for all abilities. Camp includes two full days with six hours of coaching each day, not to mention Burton demos, parties and more. Women's Burton Camp takes place Feb. 13 - 14 for $199 person. (Lift ticket not included.)
New! Steeps and Deep - A three-day intensive camp on the most challenging terrain the resort has to offer is taught by Winter Park's top instructors and includes snowmobile access to the Cirque. Skiers and snowboarders are welcome. All participants must be comfortable on black terrain. This new three-day camp is offered March 4 - 6 for $499.
Mary Jane Tele-Daze – For folks looking to free their heels and improve their skiing, Winter Park Resort's certified coaches will show you how to get started the right way and how to ski all the terrain the Jane has to offer. All skill levels are welcome for these three-and-a-half hour sessions taking place Dec. 20, Jan. 17, Jan. 31, Feb. 21, and March 14. Mary Jane Tele-Daze are $75 each. (Lift ticket not included.)
Mary Jane Bump Jamborees – Get more of the Jane with less pain in this program that has become a tradition for many generations of skiers. You'll enjoy the legendary après party after six full hours of coaching. From blue bumps to zipper line skiers, we have a group for you! Clinics are $95 per jamboree and take place Jan. 16, Feb. 6, Feb. 20, and Mar. 6. (Lift ticket not included.)
Bob's Mogul Camps – There's no better place to bump it up than at the home of North America's best natural bump runs. With six hours of daily coaching for three days from our pros, you'll be bumping with the best in no time. Winter Park Ski & Ride School Director Bob Barnes and his top mogul coaches will perfect your bump skiing whether you're a novice or an expert. Groups are based on ability level and range from blue bump runs to double diamond bump runs. The camp is offered Jan. 22 – 24; Feb. 3 - 5, Feb. 24 - 26 and March 12 - 14 for $499 per camp and includes an après ski party.
