Winter Park Open (Disabled Race, NSCD)

This regional qualifier draws the most elite disabled skiers in North America to compete for a position on the United States Disabled Ski Team on their road to the Olympic Games in Whistler 2010. Competitors race in giant slalom and two super-G events. The race is unique in that it invites many regional able-bodied ski teams to compete as well. Thursday Nights All Season Long, (starting Dec. 10, 2009)
Parents, enjoy a night out in the Village at Winter Park with free babysitting available for ages four to 12. This program is loaded with fun indoor activities and includes dinner and s’more making by the fire! Parent’s Night Out is held Thursday nights at the Children’s Center in the West Portal Building at Winter Park from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. This is a free childcare service offered to parents on the condition that $30 per child is spent at any commercial outlet in The Village at Winter Park during the hours that your children are in the program. Original receipts are required to verify the expenditure. If less than $30 per child is spent, parents will be charged the difference. Reserve your child’s space by 4 p.m. day-of by calling Winter Park Central Reservations at 800-729-7907. Kids’ Night Out will not be held on holidays including Dec. 24 and 31. SnowSports Industries America (SIA): On Snow Demo

Following the Snow Show, SIA will host the first international On-Snow Demo & Free Ride Fest at Winter Park Resort and Devil’s Thumb Ranch on Feb. 1-2. Being an inaugural event for the SIA Show, the alpine and snowboard demos will take place at Winter Park while the Nordic demo will be held at nearby Devil’s Thumb Ranch, a world class Nordic center. The event will be held in conjunction with WWSRA (Western Winter Sports Representatives Association) and the Rocky Mountain Demo, which has an extensive history of hosting on-snow demos for reps and retailers in the active sports industry. We are working with CCSAA (Cross Country Ski Areas Association) for the Nordic demo. More than 100 brands are expected to be at the On-Snow Demo giving hardgoods buyers the first opportunity to test the industry’s newest skis, snowboards, boots and tools in the environment they were intended – on snow.

35th Annual Wells Fargo Ski Cup

This event brings together world-class disabled ski racers, Denver celebrities, and amateur skiers and snowboarders of all abilities for a weekend to benefit the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). Competitors in the Corporate Cup, a Pro-Am race, assemble a team of five friends, family members or co-workers to compete for cash prizes and bragging rights. The highlight of the weekend is the World Disabled Invitational, where disabled skiers compete head-to-head on parallel courses. Now in its second year, the Winter Park Freeskiing Open was born because of the lack of amateur and professional freeskiing slopestyle opportunities and events. The goal is to have a unique format event, provide the finalist with exposure via a live webcast, and put some money in the pockets of the best freeskiing athletes in the region. Mary Jane Tele – Daze Clinic #5

Learn the fundamental skills of telemark skiing from certified telemark instructors that teach both inexperienced and seasoned skiers new skills and more efficient moves. This three-and-a-half-hour clinic meets on Level 3 of the Mary Jane Center from 8:15 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. and participants are on the slopes by 9 a.m. Cost is $75 per clinic; lift ticket not included. USSA Rocky/Central J4 Junior Olympics

Watch as the best 11 and 12-year-old racers in the Rockies and the central U.S. compete in this championship event featuring super-G, giant slalom, and slalom events. The Junior Olympics is the first step on the development path to making the U.S. Ski Team. Racers from 18 states compete at this event. Races are held on Winter Park Resort’s Hughes trail. These sessions are for female skiers looking to improve their skills in a one-day setting with Winter Park Resort’s top female coaches. Starting with a skills analysis, guests receive individual coaching on style and technique. Skiers must be comfortable on blue terrain.

Winter Park Amateur Freeride Series – King of the Grommets

Set in Winter Park Resort’s Lower Rail Yard terrain park, the Winter Park Amatuer Championships Freeride Series is open to competitors age 10 and up. Competitors are judged and scored on their maneuvers within a course that includes rails and a variety of jumps. There are separate divisions for skiers and boarders. Cost is $25 if pre-registered and $35 on the day of the event. Participants ages 13 and under receive $10 off single-event prices. Invest-in-Kids 12th Annual Jane-A-Thon

The Invest In Kids Jane-A-Thon is entering it's second decade at the Mary Jane at Winter Park Resort. Participants in the annual event make as many runs as possible down the legendary bumps at Mary Jane in an effort to raise money for Colorado children in need. NASTAR National Championship Race at Winter Park Resort

The culminating event of the Nature Valley NASTAR season is the National Championships, which brings together participants of all ages and abilities from across the country to compete for National Titles and enjoy three days of spirited competition, celebration, and fun. Participants qualify by being ranked in the top three in their age & gender category in their division at any NASTAR resort as of Feb. 15. For the 2008-2009 season, an incredible 1,040 competitors ranging in ages from three to 90 from 44 states, five countries and 105 resorts made their way to Steamboat Resort to compete for National Titles with over 3,500 ski enthusiasts in attendance. 18th Annual Tom's Terrific Cross Country Downhill

This five-kilometer "mostly downhill" fun race benefits junior skiers in the Competition Center. The race begins at 5 p.m. outside Winter Park Resort’s Lodge at Sunspot. The course involves some uphill sections and follows mostly green terrain. Waves of 10 racers start
