Winter Park Resort Tour Center Offers Guests Unique Ways to Experience the Outdoors
WINTER PARK, COLO., WINTER 2007 / 2008 – Winter Park Resort is a destination just waiting to be explored. Whether on slope, on snowshoe, or just on foot, the dedicated tour staff at Winter Park Resort can provide a unique mountain experience for guests interested in learning about the area's rich history and the unique native plants and animals.
Snowcat Tours - Guests can treat themselves to a heated and enclosed snowcat for an up-close and comfortable tour of Winter Park Mountain. These specially designed snowcats, with seating for 13, travel across beginner, intermediate and expert trails, allowing plenty of time for photo opportunities of the resort's breathtaking vistas. The two-hour tours depart at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and 10 a.m. and noon Monday through Thursday. The cost is $48/person and reservations are available by calling (800) 729 -7907. Private two-hour sunset tours are also available for $499 and are the perfect way to celebrate a big occasion or to "pop the question."
Snowshoe Tours - Snowshoe tours at Winter Park Resort are a fun and educational way to discover the mountain as well as try a new sport. Guided tours begin with a ride up the Gemini Express chairlift and then travel off the beaten path along wildlife game trails and summer mountain biking trails back down to the base of the resort. Two hour guided tours depart at 10:30 a.m. (daily) and 1:30 p.m. (Friday – Sunday) and cost $37/per person (snowshoe rental included). Tours begin in late November and continue through the end of the season, conditions permitting.
Self-Guided Snowshoe Hikes - For the adventurous at heart, guests can rent a pair of snowshoes and head out on their own to explore Winter Park Resort or any one of the nearby trail routes. Snowshoe rentals are available at Balcony House Guest Services located in the Balcony House at the base of Winter Park Resort. Half day rentals are $15/person and full day rentals are $19/person.
Free Guided On-Mountain Ski and Snowboard Tours with a Winter Park Resort Host - Visitors can join a member of Winter Park Resort's knowledgeable host team for a free on-mountain tour of the resort. Tours depart daily from the Sunspot kiosk meeting point at the top of the Zephyr Express chairlift at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. All participants must be an intermediate or advanced skier or rider and a lift ticket or pass is required.
Scenic Chairlift Ride to The Lodge at Sunspot - For guests taking a break from the slopes but still looking to meet their friends for lunch after 11 a.m., the Zephyr Express chairlift provides a scenic ride up to The Lodge at Sunspot for a great mid-day feast. This 12-minute chairlift ride starts from the base area altitude of 9,000 feet to the breathtaking summit of Winter Park Mountain at 10,700 feet above sea level.
