Crankworx Colorado Freeride Mountain Bike Festival returns for its third year to Winter Park Resort July 30 – Aug. 2, 2009.  Building on two years of momentum, Crankworx Colorado will be this year's home to the North American Championships, attracting the best slopestyle riders from around the world.

Winter Park Resort is kicking weekends off with a new family-focused evening program, Freeride Fridays, starting July 3 and continuing through Sept. 4.  Every Friday enjoy extended hours in Trestle Bike Park, a new mountain bike race series, an evening barbecue on the decks of the mountaintop restaurant - The Lodge at Sunspot, and family activities in The Village at Winter Park, including outdoor movies and live music acts.

The snow is melting fast and crews are hard at work building Winter Park Resort's Trestle Bike Park for the summer. The lifts start running June 13 (bike park opening date tbd) and this year offers a roster of happenings, from clinics and bike races to the popular Crankworx Colorado event, July 30 – Aug. 2, when some of the best mountain bikers in the world descend on Winter Park Resort to show off their stuff.

Miles away from the big city, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, guests convene at Winter Park Resort for the simple pleasures of food.  From Winter Park Resort's classic summer culinary events to new restaurant offerings, Winter Park Resort offers something to satisfy even the hungriest of appetites.

Come summer, Winter Park Resort turns into a popular high-altitude destination with fun-filled activities sure to entertain active vacationers.  From Colorado's longest Alpine Slide to more then 30 miles of chairlift accessible mountain bike terrain, Winter Park Resort is your destination for fun.  

Winter Park and the surrounding valley is known as Mountain Bike Capital USA because of its 600 miles of interconnected trail network.  Winter Park Resort's Trestle Bike Park is making it easier then ever to access those trails with the largest downhill bike park fleet in the United States, new walk-in bike clinics for those looking to learn or perfect their skills, and three downhill bike camps with options for women and youth. 

The Winter Park Mountain Bike Race Series is the state's largest and best, attracting nearly 4,000 cross-country and downhill riders annually.

Winter Park Resort, like many locations in western Colorado, has felt the distressing effects of the mountain pine beetle.  Since 2004, the resort has seen a significant amount of lodgepole pine mortality throughout several hundred acres of tree islands.  In response, Winter Park Resort has implemented a Vegetation Management Plan with the assistance of the United States Forest Service and partially funded by a Colorado State University grant. 

Winter Park Resort offers two ideal wedding sites – the stunning mountaintop Lodge at Sunspot and the simply elegant Jane Lodge.  Each setting offers a distinctly unique aisle off of the beaten path.

Winter Park Central Reservations has taken the guesswork out of bargain travel shopping and created travel packages that any kind of vacationer can enjoy.
