Winter Park Resort, Winter Park, Colo – Summer, 2009 –
The snow is melting fast and crews are hard at work building Winter Park Resort's Trestle Bike Park for the summer. The lifts start running June 13 (bike park opening date tbd) and this year offers a roster of happenings, from clinics and bike races to the popular Crankworx Colorado event, July 30 – Aug. 2, when some of the best mountain bikers in the world descend on Winter Park Resort to show off their stuff.

Trestle Bike Park is located at the entrance to the Fraser Valley and connects with some 600 miles of mountain biking trails in what is now known as "Mountain Bike Capital USA™."  As an established cross-country mountain biking area, the resort has ambitiously been working hard to create a world-class freeride environment as well.  Last year, the U.S. Forest Service approved 20 new trail segments for Trestle Bike Park, and crews from the trail innovators at Gravity Logic have since been planning and excavating new routes to enhance or add to the 30 miles of lift-accessed existing trails at the resort.

With everything from tailor-made rides for the first-time downhill rider to massive drops and jumps for the seasoned expert, Trestle Bike Park offers a range of elevated trails, jump trails, and single-track trails with flowy features. And in the coming years, expect to see a park that is a fun and sustainable venue that allows riders to learn new skills and push themselves to new levels.  Plus, the resort offers clinics and daily lessons to help those who want to progress from easy greens to gnarly blacks.

Riders who need a little help learning or perfecting their mountain bike techniques can get some assistance from the Winter Park Ride School.  Offering a variety of clinics and camps throughout the summer, their expert staff will take your riding to the next level.  Visit www.trestlebikepark.com to view a full schedule of camps or enroll in one of the daily clinics offered for $45/person.

Trestle Bike Park season passes offer unlimited access to Trestle Bike Park for $199/adult or a mid-week only pass for $169/adult. Visit www.trestlebikepark.com for details.

The Trestle Bike Park Shop at the base of the Zephyr Express Lift has all you need to get geared up for summer riding, including rentals, demos and protective gear for sale or rent.

New this year, Freeride Fridays are a chance to take a twilight ride on a top-notch downhill bike with all the protective gear for just $29.99 from Trestle Bike Park Shop.  Every Friday all summer there'll be barbecue on the decks of the mountaintop restaurant, The Lodge at Sunspot, and events in the Village, including talks from wildlife experts, visits from caricature artists, face-painting, outdoor movies and live music acts all summer.
