Winter Park Resort, Winter Park, Colo., Summer 2009 – Miles away from the big city, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, guests convene at Winter Park Resort for the simple pleasures of food.  From Winter Park Resort's classic summer culinary events to new restaurant offerings, Winter Park Resort offers something to satisfy even the hungriest of appetites.

New Dining Options
The Village at Winter Park is now open and home to two new restaurants - Lime and Cheeky Monk. 

Lime, an American cantina, is your source for great tacos and mighty margaritas.  This summer, their "Three @ 3" happy hour promotion returns with $3 house margaritas, $3 draft beer and appetizers, starting at $3 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. daily.  Lime is also livening things up with late night dancing and entertainment every Friday and Saturday night.  Hours are from 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. Sunday – Thursday, and 8 a.m. – close on Friday and Saturday.  Lime also offers a breakfast burrito buffet with grab-and-go options available in the morning for guests ready to play.  Lime is located near the gazebo and pond and is a great place to catch all the action.   

Cheeky Monk, a Belgian beer café, offers a taste of Belgium right in The Village at Winter Park.  The owner is always on the lookout for the rarest and best beers, and currently offers an impressive drink menu, featuring 14 Belgian imported beers on draught and 20 Belgian imported bottles.  Beers are hand-selected to pair with the flavorful dining menu highlighting the uniqueness, style, and taste of each beer.  Cheeky Monk offers such well-known beers as Lucifer Golden Ale, Bacchus Sour and Hopsinjor Blond Ale, as well as rare offerings from the Trappiste Monasteries.  This summer, enjoy a tasty brew on the patio while taking in the amazing views of the surrounding mountains, or while listening to live music every Saturday.   

Sunspot BBQ Dinners: Unbeatable Price, Breathtaking Views
New for this summer, The Lodge at Sunspot is offering the best outdoor BBQ dinner in the valley, available Fridays, July 3 – Sept. 4.  Arrive by chairlift between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to the two-mile high log and stone Lodge at Sunspot for a dinner experience like none other. 

Enjoy amazing 360 degree views of the Continental Divide and the surrounding Fraser Valley, while dining on a delicious BBQ spread for only $24.95/adult, $19.95/children (10 and under).  This all-inclusive price includes round-trip chairlift ride, live entertainment, and dinner.  Entrée choices include beef rib eye steak, pork spare ribs, beef brisket, BBQ chicken and grilled portabella mushroom steak.  All entrées include corn on the cob, Texas toast, ice cream dessert and choice of sides featuring potato salad, coleslaw or baked beans.  All dinners also include lemonade or ice tea. 

Annual Culinary Events
Taste of Grand County

Lovers of gourmet food, fine wines and hand-crafted beers shouldn't miss the annual Taste of Grand County taking place Aug. 15.  This unique opportunity allows guests the chance to sample and enjoy a wide array of food and beverages at the picturesque Winter Park Resort.  Highlights include wine, beer and food tasting, and a huge silent auction. The Taste of Grand County proceeds benefit the National Sports Center for the Disabled which provides over 23,000 sports and recreational lessons annually for adults and children with almost any type of disability.  Tickets and general information are available at www.nscd.org.

Famous Flamethrowers High Altitude Chili Cook-off
Costumed chili chefs compete in Winter Park Resort's annual Famous Flamethrowers High Altitude Chili Cook-off Aug. 22 - 23 for the state title and the opportunity to represent the Rocky Mountain region in the World Chili Cook-off.  Top prizes are awarded to Most Creative Chef, Best Red Chili, Best Green Chili, and Best Salsa contests.  A portion of this event's proceeds will benefit the National Sports Center for the Disabled which provides over 23,000 sports and recreational lessons annually for adults and children with almost any type of disability.
