Culinary Events Designed to Delight
Winter Park Resort, Winter Park, Colo., Summer 2008 – Miles away from the city, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, guests convene to Winter Park Resort in the summer for the less expected, simple pleasures of food. From Winter Park Resort's new summer event – La Vita e Bella Italian Festival, July 11-13 , to the Taste of Grand County taking place August 9 and the Famous Flamethrowers High Altitude Chili Cookoff August 23-24, foodies and chefs alike head to the high country to taste the best of the best.
Thrilling audiences since 1842, the Italian Circus Zoppe' is scheduled to arrive at Winter Park Resort for La Vita e Belle Italian Festival, July 11-13. This three day festival duplicates the feeling of a European village celebration, similar to those seen on a hillside in Italy. Complete with a central piazza, food, wine, exhibitors, artisans and entertainment, this is the first time this authentic Italian Circus has been in Colorado and is sure to delight audiences with its clowns, trapeze, dancing dogs, ring and giant tent – not to mention delicious Italian food! The La Vita e Belle Italian piazza and exhibits are free to the general public; the Circus Zoppe tent tickets TBD.
Lovers of gourmet food, fine wines and hand-crafted beers shouldn't miss the annual Taste of Grand County taking place August 9. This unique opportunity allows guests the chance to sample and enjoy a wide array of local/regional food and beverages at the picturesque location of Winter Park Resort. Highlights include, wine, beer and food tasting, a huge silent auction and cooking demonstrations from local and regional chefs. Costumed chili chefs compete in Winter Park Resort's annual Famous Flamethrowers High Altitude Chili Cookoff August 23-24 for the state title and the opportunity to represent the Rocky Mountain region in the World Chili Cook-off. Top prizes are awarded to Most Creative Chef, Best Red Chili, Best Green Chili, and Best Salsa contests. A portion of this event's proceeds benefit the National Sports Center for the Disabled.
