From Mountain Biking and Hiking, to Colorado's Longest Alpine Slide, Winter Park Resort is Destination Fun

Winter Park Resort, Winter Park, Colo., Summer 2008
– Come summer, Winter Park Resort extends its warm-weather offerings to a world of fun-filled activities for children and their parents. From Colorado's longest Alpine Slide to more then 50 miles of chairlift accessible mountain bike terrain, Winter Park Resort keeps ease of mind while on vacation in perspective.

The Adventure Pass
To start with, the Winter Park Resort Adventure Pass extends to families both value and convenience for just $49 for kids and adults (kids 5 and under free).  With the Activity Pass, guests gain unlimited access for the day to the Alpine Slide, Mini Golf, Zephyr Scenic Chairlift, Human Maze, Outdoor Climbing Wall, GyroEXTREME and the Leaps n' Bounds Bungee.

Mountain Biking
One of the resort's most popular activities is the top-to-bottom mountain biking.  Mountain bikers and their trusty set of fat tires are whisked the resort's mountaintops via the Zephyr Express and Olympia Express chairlifts.  From there, riders can access the resort's 50-mile network of trails or move onto another 550 miles of interconnected bike trails throughout the Fraser Valley.  Unlimited chairlift access can be purchased through a Trestle Bike Park All Day Pass for $34 or a half day pass for $24.  Valley and downhill specific mountain bike rentals and repairs are available at the base of Winter Park Resort in the Mountain Adventure Center; rental packages including bike and helmet start at $24.99.

Hiking
For those who prefer to take things in at a slower pace, Winter Park Resort has designated two trails exclusively for hiking.  A chairlift ride on the Zephyr Express delivers hikers to the trailheads of the Nystrom and Ute trails.  The Nystrom trail follows a mountain ridge to Mary Jane's 12,060-foot summit for an invigorating workout.  The Ute trail is a relatively gentle, downhill hike that crosses the wide-open trails of Winter Park Mountain dipping into sections of dense evergreen forest before reaching the base.  Single Zephyr Express Scenic Chairlift rides are $15/adult and $10/child, senior (6-12, 70+).

Colorado's Longest Alpine Slide
Thrill seekers of all ages love Colorado's longest Alpine Slide at Winter Park Resort.  New this season, guests will climb into brand new, state of the art, alpine sleds equipped with runners and hand-held brakes before speeding their way down 3,030 feet of dips and swooping turns.  The parallel tracks (one for slower riders and one for adrenaline junkies) are accessed from the Arrow chairlift.  Ride the Alpine Slide for $15/adult and $10/child, senior (6-12, 70+) or take advantage of unlimited turns with the Winter Park Adventure Pass. Height restrictions apply.

Other Resort Activities
Singular or unlimited with the purchase of an Adventure Pass, these resort activities keep everyone young!

A popular brain-teaser for the directionally challenged is the Amaze'n Human Maze.  Guests must find four different checkpoints in the resort's ever-changing labyrinth before exiting and posting their time.  Players compete against the clock and each other while attempting to find the fastest way out.   The Amaze'n Human Maze can be conquered for $10/adult and $7/child, senior (6-12, 70+).

If you haven't experienced disc golf, you haven't experienced life!  Perched at the top of Winter Park Mountain, the resort's 18 hole course winds around the mountain summit for 360 degrees of Winter Park Resort.  The course is free with the purchase of a Zephyr Express Scenic Chairlift ticket ($15/adult and $10/child, senior, ages 6-13, 70+), and disc rental is available at the base of the resort.  Or, putter around on the 18-hole Mountainside Mini Golf Course.  This unique course depicts some of the features and folklore of Winter Park and the Fraser Valley.  A round of 18 holes costs $10/adult and $7/child, senior (6-13, 70+).

Guests reach new heights with the Leaps & Bounds Bungee.  Harnessed and tethered by bungee cords, kids of all ages can flip and aim for huge air by jumping on this massive trampoline.  Cost is $10/adult and $/child, senior (6-13, 70+).

For a truly unique experience, the GyroEXTREME is a human-sized sphere that allows not one – but two riders to move themselves upside down and all around to create a sensation similar to being in space.  Cost is $10/adult and $7/child, senior (6-13, 70+).  Height restrictions apply.

To rise above the rest, slip on a harness and check out the Outdoor Climbing Wall.  This 24-foot wall offers three different routes with varying degrees of difficulty and has an automatic belay system.  Cost is $10/adult and $7/child, senior (6-13, 70+) per climb.

Best Value!
All base activities may be purchased individually, however the all-in-one Adventure Pass offers the best value.  With the Winter Park Resort Advenure Pass, kids and adults gain unlimited access to the Alpine Slide, Mini Golf, Zephyr Scenic Chairlift, Human Maze, Outdoor Climbing Wall, Gyro and Leaps n' Bounds Bungee.  Cost for a full-day Adventure Pass is $49/adult/child and a half-day Activity Pass is $49/adult/child/senior; kids five and under are free.
