Dear media members,
This summer I invite you to find out what a place like Winter Park knows about summer. I think you might be surprised, because we know quite a lot. Summers in Winter Park and the Fraser Valley are best enjoyed outdoors and after a long winter, we do just that. Without the heat and humidity slowing you down, tackling the variety of outdoor area activities can be enjoyable anytime.
Valley-wide guests partake in summer music concerts, food and wine festivals, outdoor craft fairs, or Winter Park's giggle-filled base activities like the Leaps & Bounds bungee, Colorado's longest Alpine Slide, Mountainside Mini Golf, and the Amaze'n Human Maze. And while Winter Park has a longstanding reputation as a destination that is fun for all ages, we're now also known as a mountain biking hotspot with 600 miles of interconnected biking trails located throughout the Fraser Valley. Here, bikers will find trails that suit any style, speed and ability.
As an established cross-country biking resort, Winter Park Resort has set out to create a world-class freeride environment as well. Last summer, the resort created Trestle Bike Park, home to over 30 miles of downhill mountain biking trails, many of which are chairlift-accessible by either the Zephyr Express or the Olympia Express chairlifts. Both lifts operate with a bike transportation system and make Winter Park the only resort in the region with two lifts dedicated to mountain biking.
Trestle Bike Park features everything from massive drops and jumps as well as elevated trails, jump trails, and single-track trails with flowy-banked features. Last year the U.S. Forest Service approved 20 new trail segments for Trestle Bike Park and crews from the trail innovators at Gravity Logic have since been planning and excavating new routes to enhance or add to the 30 miles of lift-accessed existing trails at the resort.
This summer we are launching a new program called Freeride Fridays that offers twilight hours on select base actities as well as evening access to Trestle Bike Park. This family-focused event will also offer free activities like outdoor movies, BBQ dinners at the mountaintop Lodge at Sunspot and live music.
If you are working on a story about the perfect summer escape for your readers and viewers, consider this letter your invitation to become part of Winter Park and the Fraser Valley, if only for a few days. We'll help you get to know the place we love, and assist you with fine-tuning all the details to pull your story together. We'll answer questions, think up new angles or help you plan a fact-finding trip of your own.
See you soon!
