WINTER PARK, COLO., June 5, 2007 – As the last trace of spring snow vanishes, a new world is uncovered, revealing the hidden secrets of Winter Park, the Fraser Valley and Grand County.  Mountain biking, hiking, music festivals, bike festivals, art fairs or simply relaxing are just a few ideas on how to fill those long summer days.  So mark your summer calendar using ours - it’s time to start making plans for a mountain getaway to Winter Park! 

June 9 – August 25
WINTER PARK MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE SERIES
Lance Armstrong’s done it. So have the biggest and best mountain bikers in the region.  The Winter Park Mountain Bike Race Series is Colorado’s largest mountain bike race series because it’s the best racing Colorado has to offer.  Featuring six races throughout the summer, this race series challenges riders with varying courses featuring hill climbs, mountain circuits, point-to-points, and cross country super loops.  For more information on this one-of-a-kind series including times and registration contact the Winter Park Competition Center at (303) 316-1590 or visit www.epicsingletrack.com.  Dates: June 9, 16; July 7, 21 and August 4, 25.

June 16 – September 3 (Labor Day)
WINTER PARK RESORT OPENS FOR THE SUMMER
Escape to the high country of the Fraser Valley for a summer season full of fun and festivities starting with Winter Park Resort’s opening day.  Whether riding Colorado’s longest Alpine Slide; playing on one of the many base area activities; or catching live music from local favorites, there’s something for everyone.  Open through Labor Day (weather permitting), play to your heart’s content from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.  For more information on day-to-day events and activities call (303) 316-1564 or visit www.winterparkresort.com.

June 16 – September 1
PLAZA PALOOZA
Plaza Palooza is Winter Park Resort’s answer to free family fun!  Taking place select Saturdays throughout the summer season, Plaza Palooza fills the day with free live music, face painting, and caricature drawings in addition to the many base area activities offered at the resort.  For more information on dates and scheduled activities call (303) 316-1564 or visit www.winterparkresort.com. 

June 30 – August 18
SUMMER SKI TRAIN
The Ski Train summer excursions offer a postcard-perfect train experience through the dramatic peaks of the Rockies starting Saturday, June 30, through August 18.  Mountain bikers, hikers, and sightseers alike enjoy this two hour excursion to Winter Park Resort.
The Ski Train travels through scenery you'll never see any other way.  In addition to the scenic wonders of the Flatirons and South Boulder Canyon, you will encounter rugged alpine wilderness and vistas not seen anywhere else but on the Ski Train.  The Ski Train departs from union Station in downtown Denver at 8:30 a.m. and returns to Denver at 3 p.m.  For more information on Ski Train rates and reservations visit www.skitrain.com.

June 30-July 1
5th ANNUAL GRAND COUNTY BLUES FESTIVAL
“Blues from the Top” continues to set a different tone for music lovers alike.  This two day festival takes place in downtown Winter Park and features artists such as Curtis Salgado, The Reba Russell Band, John Alex Mason, Tab Benoit, Eden Brent and The Blues From The Top Gospel Choir. Tickets are $28/one day or $40/both days in advance; and/or $32/one day or $50 both days the day of the show. July 4
FRASER VALLEY RUN FOR INDEPENDENCE AND EVENING FESTIVITIES
Celebrate Independence Day in “Grand Style” – Grand County style that is!  Start the day off with a 5 mile run/walk from Winter Park Resort along the Fraser River Trail down into the town of Fraser for a post-race party filled with food, prizes and lots of fun. CRANKWORX COLORADO MOUNTAIN BIKE FESTIVAL
Winter Park Resort is excited to announce the addition of Crankworx Colorado Mountain Bike Festival to its summer events line up.  Showcasing Winter Park Resort as Colorado’s ultimate mountain biking playground, Crankworx is one of the world's largest freeriding events and set to go off July 5 – 7. This exciting two day event features cross-country and downhill races, a Super D, Big Air and Slopestyle contest. MOUNTAIN BIKE CAPITAL USA™ WEEKEND
For those seeking a more mellow bike event, Mountain Bike Capital USA™ Weekend taking place July 7-8, is a great event for all ages and biking abilities.  This bike-centered festival features guided mountain bike tours, free repair and technique clinics, contests, live music, kids activities, a trials course demonstration, bike swap and the third race in Colorado’s largest mountain bike race series, the Winter Park Mountain Bike Race Series.  For more information contact the Winter Park/Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce at (800) 903-7275 or at www.playwinterpark.com.

July 14-15
4th ANNUAL WINTER PARK FOLK FESTIVAL
The 4th Annual Winter Park Folk Festival is a free music concert held at Hideaway Park in downtown Winter Park and features some of the best independent folk musicians from around the country. July 21-22
WINTER PARK JAZZ FESTIVAL

ALPINE ARTAFFAIR
The 34th annual Winter Park Alpine ArtAffair features fine arts, crafts, jewelry, photography, sculpture, food, and entertainment. Proceeds from this non-profit event funds art scholarships and arts-related projects for Grand County students and aspiring artists. August 4
ROCKY MOUNTAIN WINE, BEER, AND FOOD FESTIVAL

FAMOUS FLAMETHROWER’S HIGH ALTITUDE CHILI COOKOFF
Chefs don their best costumes and fire up their tastiest recipes in this back-to-back sanctioned cook-off.  Winners will represent Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region at the International Chili Society. August 17-19
AMERICAN VETERANS RALLY AND FESTIVAL
Winter Park and the Fraser Valley welcome the American Veterans Traveling Tribute to the area August 17-19.  Featuring two days of non-stop fun and festivities, the American Veterans Rally will feature an 80% scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C., parade, poker run, blessing of the bikes, tattoo competition, outdoor beer garden and live music concerts.  The Americans Veterans Rally is the oldest in the west.  For more information on the American Veterans Rally and Festival, contact the Winter Park/Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce at (800) 903-7275 or at www.playwinterpark.com.
