WINTER PARK, COLO., June 12, 2007 - Winter Park Resort is proud to announce that thirty year-long employee, Bob Dart, has been selected to receive the 2007 United States Ski/Snowboard Association (USSA) Bud and Mary Little Award. This prestigious award is presented to an individual who has contributed significantly to USSA skiing or snowboard interests through long-term involvement in the International Federation of Skiing (FIS) or Olympic sports communities, nationally or internationally.
Winter Park Resort General Manager, Gary DeFrange stated that "Bob has shown tremendous dedication to both the sport of skiing and the USSA over the past twenty-three years. His commitment to growing the sport and organization shines through in everything he does. We feel extremely honored to have him as a part of our staff and are very proud of his achievements."
Dart was nominated by USSA racing volunteers and staff for his dedicated representation of alpine skiing on the USSA Board of Directors; his Chairmanship of the FIS NorAm Cup Committee; and representation at the FIS Alpine Committee, FIS Continental Cup Committee, FIS Technical Delegate (TD) Commission, FIS Masters Committee and at the FIS Congress.
The nominators stated that "Bob is a highly regarded International Federation of Skiing Technical Delegate with annual assignments to the Alpine World Cup and had the honor in 2005 to serve as TD at the Alpine World Ski Championships in Bormio, Italy. Additionally he serves on the annual faculty for the North American FIS TD update seminars."
In addition they felt that "Under Dart's leadership, the USSA Alpine Sport Committee has continued to develop a comprehensive system of rules, races, rankings, development and education. This system provides a fair and healthy environment for young athletes, coaches and officials to test their skills in an alpine ski competition. He has introduced and stimulated progressive ideas and strategies as well as been successful in recruiting new energetic key volunteers and staff to support the work and efforts of USSA in becoming the best in the world in alpine skiing."
This high honor is a direct result of Dart's effortless dedication, leadership, selflessness, extensive knowledge of the sport's history and direction, personal initiative, and industry relations.
The USSA presented Dart with the Bud and Mary Little Award during the 2007 USSA Congress at the Chairman's Awards Dinner, Friday, May 18 at the Snow Park Lodge in Deer Valley.
Dart was recently promoted from Competition Center Director at Winter Park Resort to Director of Mountain Operations.
