Event Offers Shoppers Deep Discounts on Equipment and Clothing
Proceeds Benefit Youth Ski/Snowboard Programs
WINTER PARK, COLO., October 7, 2009 - The Winter Park Competition Center will host their 25th Annual Ski and Snowboard Swap Friday, Oct. 9 - Saturday, Oct. 10 at the base of Winter Park Resort in the West Portal Station. This annual event offers winter enthusiast's huge savings on a wide selection of new and used ski, snowboard, and outdoor equipment as well as clothing for both children and adults. Proceeds from this event benefit the youth ski and snowboard programs run by the Winter Park Competition Center.
"This year's Ski and Snowboard Swap offers deep discounts on gear and apparel from over a dozen vendors. This event is the primary fundraiser for the youth ski and snowboard programs with proceeds supporting Winter Park Competition Center youth competitors," notes Jeff Burrows, director of the Winter Park Competition Center.
Save on well-known brands like Burton, TNF, Marmot, Rossignol, Volkl, and Lange from well known Rocky Mountain region shops and vendors. The Early Bird sale kicks off Friday, Oct. 9, from 5 – 9 p.m. with an admission fee of $2 per person or $5 per family. Sale hours on Saturday are 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and admission is free. The Winter Park Season Pass office will be open during Saturday's sale from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. for shoppers to purchase or pick up their season pass.
West Portal Outfitters will also be open with a season kick-off clearance sale of winter apparel, plus many remaining bike items and ex-rental bikes from Trestle Bike Park Shop. Ski Swap attendees can save up to $2300 on Kona '09 demo bike packages start at $2,999 and include a Trestle Bike Park season pass for 2010, Trail Star Armor, Fox knee pads and a full face helmet. Downhill bikes from Kona start at $999, $1,499 for the women's Minxy, and $1,599 for the men's Stinky. But the savings don't stop there- bike accessories and clothing are also on sale including ex-rental knee and elbow pads for only $10 each and full face helmets for $50.
The Winter Park Competition Center will host information sessions for new, prospective, and returning members on Saturday, Oct. 10 in the Upper Balcony House, located at the base of the resort. "This is a terrific opportunity to meet coaches; learn about the available ski and ride programs; find out about training and competitions; receive coach input before buying new equipment; and register for programs," continued Burrows.
