-Second new trail and Olympia Express chairlift open to bikers this Saturday
-Crankworx Colorado downhill competition prize money doubled
-Construction on new downhill course begins

Winter Park, CO, June 24, 2009 – Winter Park Resort's Trestle Bike Park continues to push the bike park development envelope since its opening two weeks ago.  The bike park crew's hard work has paid off; starting at 9:30 a.m. this Saturday, June 27, Trestle Bike Park will be almost 100 percent open.  This includes the opening of the second new trail since Trestle's approved expansion by the U.S. Forest Service, Bear Arms, as well as the opening of our second chairlift for mountain biking, the Olympia Express.  As the only resort in the state of Colorado with two dedicated mountain biking lifts, operating seven days a week, park riders experience should be first rate.

Winter Park Resort is also excited to announce two major additions in store for the pro downhill participants at this summer's Crankworx Colorado held July 30 – Aug. 2.  Winter Park Resort is doubling the cash prize to over $7,000 for the men and women's pro downhill competition, scheduled for July 30.  In addition, competitors will also be the first to ride the brand new Crankworx Colorado downhill course, scheduled to open just in time for the event.

The new Crankworx Downhill course, currently under construction by Gravity Logic, is designed to be unlike any other trail at Winter Park Resort.  The Crankworx Downhill Course will be spectator-friendly, providing easy viewing at both the course's start and finish.  Post Crankworx Colorado, the trail will remain as a staple in Trestle Bike Park and will be open to the public.  Additionally, the Freelap timing system that will be put into place will remain available to riders post Crankworx Colorado.

"We hope that the addition of the new downhill trail for Crankworx Colorado and to the bike park, demonstrates our commitment to the gravity-fed mountain bike market.  The additional prize money is our way of celebrating the new trail with the participating Crankworx Colorado athletes," stated Bob Holme, Trestle Bike Park and Crankworx Colorado manager.

Crankworx Colorado is a free event for spectators and is comprised of six different competitions including slopestyle, downhill, super downhill, best trick, cross-country, and dual slalom set over a four day period from July 30 – Aug. 2, 2009.
