Holiday activities include the Golden Bunny Classic Candy Hunt
and Fun Race

WINTER PARK, COLO., April 8, 2009 - The Easter Bunny and Winter Park Willie are delivering holiday fun by the basketful at this weekend's Spring Blast.  The focus is family fun and is sure to delight children of all ages with a carnival atmosphere featuring free face painting, stilt walkers, jugglers, and caricature artists on Saturday.  Easter activities include an on-mountain and base area free candy hunt and traditional fun race for children ages 10 and under. 

Saturday
The West Portal Plaza at the base will be bustling from 12 - 3 p.m. with children enjoying free face painting, stilt walkers, jugglers, and caricature artists.  Meanwhile, adults can enjoy great drink specials at the Derailer Bar; rockabilly music in the West Portal Plaza by Marty Jones and the Great Unknowns playing live Saturday from 12 - 4 p.m.; and up to 70% off at the end-of-season blow-out sales at base area shops.  On the slopes take advantage of free bump tips from the Winter Park Ski & Ride School from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. from the top of the Prospector chairlift.

Sunday
Children 5 and under are invited to hunt for candy at the base of Winter Park Resort in the Zephyr Plaza at noon.  Children 10 and under can join in the fun at an on-mountain candy hunt, also held at noon, on the Bobcat trail (7 - 10 years) and Porcupine trail (6 and under) in Discovery Park. 

Immediately following both events is the Golden Bunny Classic Fun Race, a Winter Park Easter tradition for over 30 years.  Registration is free and open from 8:30 – 11 a.m. on Sunday in the lower Balcony House.  This is an un-timed slalom fun race held on Lower Village Way and visible from the base of Winter Park Resort.  Racers may take as many runs as they wish until course closes at 1:30 p.m.  Lift tickets are required for both the race and on-mountain egg hunt. 

The Golden Bunny Coloring Contest is currently available online at www.winterparkresort.com or in the main level of Balcony House on Sunday, April 12th from 8:30 – 11 a.m.  Entries will be judged on Sunday, April 12th at noon with prizes awarded for first through third place for ages 1 – 3 years old, 4 – 6 years old, and 7 -10 years old.

Easter Sunday Schedule of Events:

11:45 a.m.
5 & under gather in the Zephyr Plaza to meet the Easter Bunny

Skiing candy hunters10 years and under board the Gemini Express and head to Porcupine and Bobcat trails in Discovery Park
 
12 p.m.   
The candy hunt begins in the Zephyr Plaza between the Discovery Center and the Zephyr Express lift.  The Easter Bunny will be hiding candy inside of the hunt area.

Winter Park Willie arrives at the upper hunt courses to kick off the skiing candy hunt.
