WINTER PARK, COLO., April 11, 2008- Winter Park Resort will close for the season on Sunday, April 13. The season saw 381.2 inches to date, on-mountain capital enhancements of $8M, a new base village development and the opening of the highest chairlift in North America - the Panoramic Express - and two new trails. For winter 2008-2009, guests can purchase Winter Park season passes at www.passwagon.com and look forward to the completion of a new base village.
To celebrate the close of the season, Winter Park will host the Coca-Cola Spring Splash, the oldest spring ski festival, now in its 40th year on April 13. Activities kick off at noon on the Larry Sale race course where skiers and riders struggle around obstacles and attempt to skim across an icy pond to reach the finish line. Cash prizes total $4,000 along with season passes. The day also features live music by Great American Taxi and free bump and telemark tips from Winter Park Ski and Ride School. Winter Park Resort¡¦s summer schedule officially begins Saturday, June 14 through Labor Day weekend. Known for its popular summer mountain bike series, Crankworx Colorado, and resort activities, Winter Park Resort is open daily from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. 2008 summer highlights include:
June 14 - August 30/Winter Park Mountain Bike Race Series: With Lance Armstrong a previous competitor, this series is Colorado¡¦s largest mountain bike race and is a one-of-a-kind event.
