We rely on great event workers to consistently produce the best mountain biking events in the summer and the best ski and snowboard events in the winter. Many of our workers keep coming back year after year to take advantage of the benefits, like front row seats for some of the most exciting races anywhere with competitors ranging from blossoming juniors and seasoned masters, to world-class athletes.
And of course... the free lift tickets!!
As a worker you can earn as many vouchers for lift tickets as you want. Work for a day, or on a regular basis throughout the season. For every five hours you work, you earn a one day lift ticket which can be used by you, your friends, or family.
As with all jobs event workers need to adhere to the following basic rules:
Be on time: the event depends on the timeliness of those working.
Be ready to work: Be ready to work at your assigned time, dressed appropriately for the job and weather.
Follow instructions: For the safety of you and all those involved in the event please pay attention and follow all instructions given.
Finally and most importantly have fun!! Workers having fun make the event more successful for themselves and participants alike.
Winter Event Volunteer duties include set up & tear down of the event finish area, gate judges, hand timers, time recorders, announcers, course crew and more. All jobs are assigned based on the comfort level and skiing/riding ability of the individual.
Volunteers are needed for NASTAR daily during the months of December thru March.
Summer Event Volunteer duties include registration, food & beverage service for the athletes, finish line and marshals out on the course. All positions should be ready for any kind of weather since it is cool in the mornings and heats up during the day in the mountains. We even have the possibility of snow. The minimum age for summer volunteers is 12 with very limited opportunities for kids. The minimum age for marshaling is 16.
All volunteers must submit via mail or bring with them when volunteering the volunteer information sheet and volunteer release.
Competition Center families are encouraged to work these summer and winter events to get credit toward a refund of your work deposit. Refunds are made at the end of the season. When you volunteer, be sure to indicate on the sign-up sheet that you are working off your work deposit. Effective May 1st 2009 for the 09/10 programs the work deposit break down is as follows: A $400 work deposit needs 40 hours worked for a complete refund. A $200 work deposit needs 20 hours worked for a complete refund. For additional information click here.
