The first step for young freestyle skiers who want to rip it up in the bumps and catch big air. The Winter Park Freestyle Devo Team is the first step in the development pyramid for youth freestyle competitors. Freestyle Devo Team is the place for Park Sharks looking for more ski time with a mogul focus and time training new school and upright aerials. The coaches spend the early part of the season teaching the basic skills of all-terrain skiing all over the mountain. Then the skiers will take their skills into the more demanding mogul terrain of Mary Jane, learning proper technique and tactics for competitive mogul skiing. Finishing the package is aerial training, which takes place on our freestyle jump site and in the terrain parks. The program is offered on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays starting December 4, 2009.
The Friday program is called Freestyle Fridays and is geared toward the Grand County skier who has Fridays off and can use their East Grand schools ski free on Fridays benefit. The price for Freestyle Fridays does not include a season pass, and does not include a work deposit. Friday skiers who want a pass should sign up for Freestyle Devo and indicate Friday on the registration form. A refundable work deposit will be charged.

For the innovative skier seeking opportunities to take on the demands of "new school" and terrain parks. Team Freeride is an innovative program for the athletic skier looking to improve their skills in a variety of arenas. This is a one-day competitive program designed for the all around skier specializing in terrain park and freestyle skiing. The majority of training takes place in the various terrain parks here at Winter Park with occasional free skiing and mogul skiing sessions. Training for Team Freeride is on Saturdays. Our coaching philosophy with this team is that to excel in terrain parks, the skiers must be strong all-mountain skiers. Team Freeride balances fundamental freestyle / freeride training with directed free skiing all over the mountain. Athletes will then progress to new school aerials in half-pipe, terrain parks, aerial sites and skiercross. Helmets are required during all aerial training sessions and in skiercross.
