In the more than twenty years that Team Winter Park has conducted summer camps, we have seen amazing turnarounds in the skiing of our camp participants. Summer camps are an excellent place for athletes to immerse themselves in the sport that they love, without the pressures of racing and school. The environment is more relaxed, the weather is warm, and there is more time to spend on the fundamentals of the sport. There is also time to build stronger relationships with teammates and coaches and to engage in fun activities off the ski hill as well as on-snow. We welcome skiers from other teams to join our camps, and often new friendships develop that last through seasons to come. We encourage you to read about our camps below, and hope you can join us this summer for some great skiing, and more!
What a great turnout for our Memorial Day weekend camps at A-Basin! There were Winter Park skiers everywhere improving their skiing. Thanks to all who helped out and congratulations to all that attended.
As promised, Mt. Hood delivered with the best skiing we have ever seen there. Our camp had seven perfect days on snow, where all 27 athletes made some huge progress toward a successful 2008/2009 season. The whitewater rafting on the White Salmon River was epic, as all the girls rode the bull, and Spencer made a great hood ornament down the stair step rapids. With all of the great snow and great skiing, everyone wanted to stay a few more days, and are chomping at the bit to get back in August for more great skiing.
Winter Park has hosted phenomenal GS/SL tactics camps at Mt. Hood in early August for over twenty years. August is a great time to train at Hood - shorter lift lines, great weather, less crowds, and great hill space. This year should be the best we've seen with the close to 850 inches of snow that has fallen at Mt. Hood this winter. We offer GS and SL gate progressions built upon the skills learned at the June camp. This camp, like the June camp, is open to J4 and older junior racers from last season plus J5's who made the RMD J4 team. Dates are August 6-14 (arrival/departure days from Oregon). NEW! Due to popular demand, we will offer a short session (five days on snow with no off day) for those who are interested and did our June camp. For those flying into Portland (PDX), flights must arrive on August 6 (or 9) no later than 3:15pm and depart on August 14 no earlier than 4:00pm. Register by July 8th to ensure your place in this camp. For full camp details, click here.

We are currently evaluating our international and fall training opportunities. We are considering a southern hemisphere project in the late summer and conducting fall training at Mt. Hood. We will continue to watch exchange rates and evaluate our skiers' best options. If you are interested in an international or fall training experience with us, please contact Jeff Burrows at 970.726.1598 or email jburrows@skiwinterpark.com.
