Environment

Learn about our efforts to sustain, protect and enhance habitat for the benefit of plants and animals.
Learn how we protect our crystal clear waters and maintain the expanse of our incredible views.
We not only recycle a significant amount of materials, but our staff is most creative in finding ways to reuse items that might otherwise end up in a landfill.
We haul a huge number of employees and guests by bus every year. Additionally, we are the only major ski area with AMTRAK service and "Ski Train" service from Union Station in Denver.
We try to use the minimum amount of water, power and gas while still running a large resort. Read about some of our conservation schemes.
We have entered into land swaps with the US Forest Service, in which we acquire "urbanized" lands and the Forest Service gains control of pristine lands for the benefit of wildlife and the enjoyment of people.
Given all that we do, it is no great surprise that our efforts are recognized. It gives us great satisfaction to accept these awards.
Ski areas, environmental groups, government agencies collaborate to craft voluntary environmental principles to protect the alpine environment.
